Sea Turtle
I carved a Sea Turtle out of a hand selected piece of Buckeye Burl and 8.5 gallons of epoxy resin. I first cut the burl to size and cleaned up all the debris. I then had two failed attempts at pouring molds over the course of 4 weeks. On the third attempt I successfully had a clean pour with a usable mold. Once the epoxy was cured, I used a chainsaw as well as other power tools to carve the sea turtle out of the block. I then hand sanded the entire sculpture from 60 grit up to 5000 grit before polishing and finishing.
