Translucence

I carved a Swan out of Buckeye Burl and 11 gallons of epoxy resin. The sculpture measures 31” long by 22” tall and 14” wide and weighs roughly 40 pounds. I first cut the Buckeye burl down to size, prepped it for an epoxy pour, then coated it in tabletop resin to prevent air bubbles from forming. I then spent over a week doing the epoxy pour. Once cured, I used a chainsaw and other power tools to carve the shape of the Swan, before hand sanding everything to 5000 grit.
